What is LED teeth whitening?

LED teeth whitening (Light Emitting Diode) is the most modern aesthetic whitening treatment. In recent years it has become very popular as a technological substitute for laser whitening. The difference between the two is that LED whitening has lower intensity and presents fewer contraindications for the external surface of the patient's tooth enamel.

Technically, it emits at a single wavelength, which makes it less intense and concentrated than laser light. As LED light is less strong and condensed, during the treatment a wider area of the teeth can be covered, making it possible to whiten all teeth at the same time.

LED teeth whitening phases

Protection and gel application

An expert in dental aesthetic treatments applies a gum protector to avoid irritation or burns caused by the whitening gel. The gel is then applied to the teeth to be treated.

Photoactivation with LED lamp

Using an LED lamp that emits cold blue light, the whitening gel molecules are activated, accelerating the release of the whitening substances from the peroxide. With LED whitening, several photoactivation sessions can be scheduled in a single appointment, achieving great results more quickly.
